Professor Santa J. Ono leads a global network of researchers at the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford as its Global President, appointed by Larry Ellison, focused on translating scientific discovery into real-world solutions across health, climate, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.

Over the past two decades he has gained international recognition for transforming major research universities and advancing innovation in areas such as AI, sustainability, and interdisciplinary science.

His work has also helped establish major innovation districts and technology ecosystems, including the Digital Technology Supercluster in Canada, the Cascadia Innovation Corridor in the Pacific Northwest, the 1819 Innovation Hub in Cincinnati, and the University of Michigan Center for Innovation in Detroit.

He has served as President of institutions including the University of Michigan, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Cincinnati, expanding research capacity, access to education, and global partnerships. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
