Caroline Fidalgo Ribeiro is a Research Scientist II at the Ellison Medical Institute. In her role, she leads Target Biology efforts in drug discovery programs, designing experiments to evaluate and screen novel drug candidates and to elucidate mechanism of action, with the goal of translating preclinical findings into clinical development.
Originally from Brazil, Caroline holds a B.E. in Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology, as well as an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Universidade Federal do Paraná. She moved to the U.S. as a Ph.D. student to join the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where she also served as a postdoctoral fellow. Caroline completed her postdoctoral training at Weill Cornell in New York City, and subsequently was appointed as a junior faculty member, researching how metabolic changes drive cancer progression. Caroline worked as a scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb in San Diego, developing novel protein degraders for targeted therapies, before joining EMI.
Outside work, Caroline is a big dog lover who is always happy to talk about her blind shih tzu Teddy. She is also a fan of horror books and musical theater.
